Ratification ballot launches today (sent 1 August 2023)

Tēnā koe Member,

Today NZNO members employed by Te Whatu Ora in roles covered by the proposed Te Whatu Ora/NZNO Collective Agreement will be emailed a link to vote in a secure online collective agreement ratification ballot. The ballot will be open from today 1 August to noon 7 August using Election Runner.

Last week, as a result of our recent strike ballot, NZNO issued a strike notice to Te Whatu Ora for a complete withdrawal of labour from 7am on 9 August 2023 until 7am on 10 August 2023 at every place where Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand provides health care services or hospital care services.

The outcome of the ratification vote that launches today will determine whether the 9/10 August strike goes ahead. If the outcome of the ratification ballot is to accept Te Whatu Ora’s proposed settlement, the 9/10 August strike will not continue and the new collective agreement will come into force.

If members vote not to accept this collective agreement offer the strike will go ahead and NZNO will seek further negotiations for a new collective agreement.

The offer received by Te Whatu Ora, which members will be voting on in the ballot, the proposed Collective Agreement with tracked changes and our document "The Te Whatu Ora offer explained with FAQs" can all be viewed here.

It is essential there is high member participation in the ratification ballot. The outcome will have an impact on all NZNO members covered by this collective agreement.
