Stop work meeting next steps, 6 June 2023

Kia ora Member,

Last week saw fantastic member action with thousands of Te Whatu Ora members coming out to stop work meetings across the country.  The results of the ballot are in: 98 percent of members across all meetings voted in favour of the resolution. This is a clear and powerful result which means the bargaining team will return to negotiations Wednesday and Thursday this week with a renewed mandate to pursue our claims.

A reminder that the resolution was:

  • That this meeting call on the NZNO Te Whatu Ora Collective Agreement negotiation team to resume bargaining and pursue all of our claims on the basis that the Te Whatu Ora position is unacceptable and does nothing to address the urgent needs of NZNO members in Te Whatu Ora.
  • That the NZNO Te Whatu Ora CEA negotiation team report back to members on progress (if any) of those negotiations.
  • That if the negotiations have not made acceptable progress on the NZNO claims members will decide on necessary actions to achieve an acceptable settlement.

Delegates and members did an excellent job organising and running last week's meetings and attendance was high, despite some Te Whatu Ora workplaces making it hard for members to get away. The meetings were energetic and vibrant and showed the determination of NZNO members to win a successful outcome in bargaining this year.
