Te Whatu Ora offer to NZNO members, 29 March 2023
Kia ora Member,
In today’s negotiations Te Whatu Ora's only response to NZNO's claim to pay nurses and other health workers what they are worth was a pay offer that falls well short of our wage claim.
No offer has been made on our claim for minimum safe staffing levels based on staff patient ratios (that would be enforceable by NZNO on behalf of its members), which would work alongside CCDM where CCDM is in place – and set safe staffing levels for all areas, even where CCDM is not in place.
Similarly, no offer has been made on many of the claims designed to improve health and safety for patients and staff.
There are a number of other areas where the offer falls short and your bargaining team will be taking these issues back to negotiations tomorrow. We will update you again at the end of the day.
Be part of our Day of Action!
In the meantime, we encourage all members to attend our national Day of Action on Saturday 15 April. NZNO will be holding rallies for members and their communities across Aotearoa urging political parties to commit to more nurses and better pay.
This is what our collective bargaining is all about. Help send a strong message by taking action and turning out to your local rally.
Ngā mihi,
Paul Goulter, Chief Executive
